About Us

Homing Heroes CIC turns long-empty buildings into supported homes for homeless or at-risk Armed Forces veterans, alongside community-facing space that helps neighbourhoods thrive again. The work begins in County Durham, with an initial pilot in Shildon, and is designed to be repeatable across other suitable sites.

Refurbishment isn’t just a build project, it’s a pathway. Working with partners, we link live refurbishment to practical training, qualifications and progression into work, while creating stable housing with the right support in place.

Each project aims to leave a place better than we found it: fewer empty buildings, safer streets, local jobs and spend, and a visible community asset. Any surplus is kept within the CIC and reinvested into the homes, the support, and the next building.

  • Day-to-day support and housing management can be delivered through specialist partners, keeping standards high.

  • Any surplus is reinvested into maintaining existing sites and seeding the next project.
